The Belize-flagged, Chinese-owned Tankship, ECHO STAR, was seized at the request of the Blue Fleet Group following a court decision by the High Court of Singapore.

The ship was seized following a claim by the owners of the Bulk Carrier, Royal Arsenal, due to a collision involving their vessel and the tankship.

The claim was filed due to the damages caused to the Royal Arsenal during the collision between the two vessels.

The Echo Star, formerly known as Gas Infinity, is owned by the Chinese-based, Kunlun Shipping Company, who is currently blacklisted by the United States over its violation of the US sanctions imposed on Iran.

The ship was seized by the Singapore Port Authority back in Mid-October, alongside its sister ship, Nexo (formerly known as Gas Dragon), due to its transporting of Iranian Liquid Gas.

The tankship was found to have been engaging in a number of deceptive actions, such as turning off its AIS while loading cargo from Iranian ports, and during STS operations with Iranian vessels.

The Singapore Port Authority had originally given the Chinese owner a week to remove the vessel from their port or risk a seizure.
