The Master of the Panama-flagged Feeder Vessel, LADY NURAY died after being involved in an accident during the afternoon hours of December the 18th while the vessel was docked at the Port of Thessaloniki, Greece.

The ship had been undergoing cargo operations at the port, when the 47-year-old Turkish Captain slipped and fell into the cargo hold.

Unfortunately, the Master managed to seriously injure his head during the 2,5-metre fall. He was promptly taken to the AHEPA University General Hospital of Thessaloniki, where he was declared dead or arrival.

The death of the ship’s Captain has led to the suspension of operations onboard the vessel, as the Port Authority of Thessaloniki has opened an investigation into the nature of the incident.

The ship had arrived at Thessaloniki from Taranto, Italy with a cargo of iron and was ultimately bound for Gemlik, Turkey.
