Pirates attacked the crew of a bulk carrier with knives and took a hostage in Chittagong Anchorage, Bangladesh last night.

Reports have come in that yesterday evening a vessel was boarded and the crew attacked in the asian port.

Eight pirates are believed to have gained access to the bulk carrier and attacked the seafarers with knives.

The men then took a hostage before tying up the deck watchman.

They stole the aft mooring ropes and escaped before the crew were able to raise the alarm.

The incident took place at around 2200 UTC in position 22:19.45N – 091:43.67E.

The attack was reported to a local agent after once the pirates had left the scene.
