An Indonesian military vessel sank in the Java Sea, north of Jakarta on Monday 12 March with 65 troops onboard.

The military troops carrier, AD-16-05, ran in to trouble near Thousand islands, north of Jakarta, while en route to one of the islands.

The boat suffered engine failure and was hit by a high swell causing severe damage to the boat, making it sink.

There were 65 soldiers on board, in pair with similar boat AD-04-15. Everyone on board was safely evacuated by AD-04-15.
