Harbour traffic in Damietta, Egypt was blocked as the Frankfurt Express suffered engine failure on Saturday 12th May.

The large container ship, which is part of Hapag-Lloyd’s fleet had completed it’s cargo operations and ran in to trouble when attempting to leave the harbour. The size of the vessel meant that the harbour was blocked to all other traffic until she was towed away by port tugs. Once the problem was fixed, the Frankfurt Express was able to continue with her onwards voyage to Barcelona, Spain.

It is not the first incident to befall Hapag-Lloyd in recent weeks as the SANTOS EXPRESS nearly collided with a pier and contacted 3 local ferries in Santos, Brazil on Sunday 6th May.
