Five containers buckled and fell from the container ship ‘CSCL Spring when they were destabilised as the ship was being unloaded at the Pacific International Terminal in Tianjin on Monday 11th June 2018.

The five containers crashed on to the deck of the neighbouring bunker tanker ‘Junyou8’ when an attempt to unload a 40-foot container from the vessel was unsuccessful. It has been reported that a twistlock failure caused the accident, although port authorities are investigating further.

The container ship, which was refuelling at the time of the incident didn’t suffer any damage and was able to leave the port as planned and continue with its onward journey to Qingdao. The bunker tanker did suffer some damage and was berthed at the 'Tianjin Port Fourth Stevedoring Company Terminal.
