The Swiss Passenger Ship, MS Alina collided with the Swiss river Cruise Ship, Viking Skadi, in the morning of April 16th.

The incident occurred at approximately 11:45 local time, near the Eastern Quay of the Nieuwe Maas distributary, Rotterdam, Netherlands.

The Alina collided with its stern into the midbody of the Skadi that had been moored in the area.

As a result of the collision, 18 people were injured onboard the Alina, 7 of which required immediate medical treatment, having reported several fractures and back related injuries.

Thankfully, there were no crew or passengers on the Viking Skadi at the time of the accident.

Emergency medical services rushed to the scene and transported the injured to a nearby hospital.

The Alina, having suffered damage to its stern as part of the accident berthed in Ghent on April 17th before moving onto its final destination of Cologne.

The Viking Skadi sustained no visible damage during the accident and sailed from Rotterdam on April the 17th and was bound for Hoorn.
