A container ship has been disabled off Le Havre in France after suffering an engine failure.

Thira came in to difficulties after leaving France and was brought to anchor northwest of Le Havre on 18 February.

The ship was en route from Le Havre to Antwerp and hopes to continue to her destination.

On the 20th Feb the French MRCC sent a helicopter with technicians to investigate the damage. They concluded that there was no danger to the ship or the other ships in the area. Spare parts are needed but have had to be ordered.

As of 0500 this morning she was still at anchor.
