Suspicious approach off the coast of Takoradi, Ghana as a merchant vessel was surrounded by 3 speedboats of armed pirates.

  1. Category:SUSPICIOUS APPROACH
  2. Description:On 08 March 2018 at 1700 UTC, a merchant vessel was approached by three speedboats, in position 03°55N 001°14E (155°/65NM from Takoradi, GHANA).  Occupants were wearing camouflage clothing and carrying weapons.
  3. Source:Reported to MDAT-GoG via email.

Vessels transiting the area are advised to exercise extreme caution.
