25 passengers have been injured after an explosion ripped through the ferry they were disembarking in Mexico.
The ferry had arrived at the port in the popular tourist resort of Playa del Carmen when the incident took place.
Initial reports suggest there are no fatalities, but 25 passengers are injured. 20 are said to be tourists, and the 5 remaining are Mexicans. The injuries were reported to be minor, however, reports since have indicated one Mexican national has sustained second and third-degree facial burns and remains in a critical condition.
The ferry is owned by a local company, Barcos Caribe.
An investigation has now been launched by local authorities to determine the cause of the explosion.
