Collision in North Sea Damages 2 Ships

A freight ship and pilot ship have been damaged after a collision in the North Sea.

General cargo ship, ELKE W crashed in to WANDELAAR just before 1pm local time today. The collision took place North-West of Ostend, Belgium, in the North Sea.

There were reports of bad weather, poor visibility and fog at the time.

ELKE W was en route from Southampton in England to Antwerp in Belgium. She will undergo an inspection at Vissingen pilot station before continuing her journey.

WANDELAAR continued after the collision, arriving at Ostend earlier this afternoon.
